A letter from the team

Public services deserve better software.

01What we saw

Hello,

We have worked alongside public servants, and we have often seen the same thing: people devoted to their mission, and software that makes their job harder.

Too often, public servants have to adapt to the software, rather than the other way round. They move from one screen to another, copy the same information again and again, and look for the right answer in scattered documents.

They deserve software that is simple, pleasant to use, accessible and built for their everyday work.

Artificial intelligence can help them a great deal, and we use it fully where it brings the most. But not every problem needs AI, or even new software.

02How we work

We do not know the solutions in advance. So we start by watching how staff work and listening to the public: their constraints, what slows them down, what already works. What to build, we decide afterwards, with them.

We do not want to add one more tool to an already complicated pile. We want to build software that truly deserves to be used.

That is why we started État de l’Art.

03What we build

We build open-source software for needs that many administrations share. The first is Support, which helps staff answer requests from the public. It has been in service in Vilnius since October 2025.

With the Labo, we design new software alongside public teams, when the need is real, so that it serves elsewhere too.

We want software that lasts, that respects the people who use it and that administrations stay in control of.

We still have a lot to learn, and we would rather learn it with the people who do public service every day. If a tool makes your job harder every day, tell us. That is often where good software begins.
